Boasting a 4-inch super LCD display with HTC Sense UI, HTC Desire XDS runs on Android 4.0 Ice-cream Sandwich operating system. This is one area where HTC seems to have got it wrong, since most of the other smartphones in similar price range now come with the latest version of Android (4.2).

The phone runs on a decent 1Ghz dual core processor and comes with 768MB RAM. The internal memory of 4GB is not too impressive either. Just like any other smartphone, it features a MicroSD card slot that can be used to expand the storage up to 32GB.

The only added benefit of buying this phone is the 25GB of Dropbox storage space that the company has decided to offer. Coming to the camera, HTC Desire XDS features a 5MP rear camera but the disappointing thing is the lack of a front camera for video calling.

Talking about the connectivity options, the phone comes with most of the the standard ones, including Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, GPRS and USB connectivity. However the alarming fact is that it doesn’t feature 3G connectivity, something that just cannot be ignored.

All in all, HTC could have done much better with this phone, especially considering the hefty price tag it comes with. Since the phone costs close to Rs. 16,000, people would have expected much better specs – a stronger processor, an improved RAM, 3G connectivity and a front camera at the least. Considering the other options available in similar price range, it would be prudent to go for some better phones as we cannot see anyone else buying this phone other than die hard HTC fans.
