Maruti Suzuki, the country’s largest car maker has launched a new version of its best selling model Alto – Alto K10 on 4th August in New Delhi. The price is expected to be between Rs. 3.03 lakh to Rs. 3.16 lakh. New Maruti Alto K10 will take on the likes of General Motor’s Spark and Hyundai Motor’s Santro which are in similar price range.
The launch comes at a time when Maruti Suzuki India was seeing a dip in its market share due to serious competition from other auto companies – Hyundai, Ford, General Motor etc. who have small cars at cheap prices that woo Indian customers as they are particularly suited to Indian roads & traffic conditions.
The new Alto boasts of a powerful K-Series 1000cc Engine which was previously only available in the Maruti Suzuki A-Star, Wagor R and Estilo. There are other improvements in the car as well – improved suspension, new cable type transmission & superior brake system. Maruti claims Alto’s new version will provide excellent fuel efficiency with a mileage of 20.2 km per lite, which is very impressive indeed.
The existing Alto clocks sales of over 20,000 units every month and has sold more than 14 lakh units since its launch in September 2000. The new version is expected to become a hit in the Indian market due to improved mileage, cheap price & improved performance. It is available in six different colours – Midnight Black, Superior White, Silky Silver, Ecru Beige, Fire Brick Red & Blue Blaze.
